A vulnerability was found in CA BrightStor ARCServe BackUp up to 11 (Backup Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code in the library queue.dll of the file lqserver.exe of the component Message Queuing Service. Queue.dll for the message queuing service (LQserver.exe) in CA BrightStor ARCServe BackUp v9.01 through R11.5, and Enterprise Backup r10.5, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a malformed ONRPC protocol request for operation 0x76, which causes ARCserve Backup to dereference arbitrary pointers.
The bug was discovered 10/11/2007. The weakness was shared 10/10/2007 by Greg Linares (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at supportconnectw.ca.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-5331 since 10/10/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
