Mozilla Firefox before 3.0.6 and SeaMonkey before 1.1.15 do not properly restrict access from web pages to the (1) Set-Cookie and (2) Set-Cookie2 HTTP response headers, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from cookies via XMLHttpRequest calls, related to the HTTPOnly protection mechanism.
The bug was discovered 02/03/2009. The weakness was shared 02/04/2009 by Georgi Guninski (moz_bug_r_a4) with Mozilla (Website). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-0357 since 01/29/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
