Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (affected version not known). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component search-indexer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper synchronization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-662. The product utilizes multiple threads or processes to allow temporary access to a shared resource that can only be exclusive to one process at a time, but it does not properly synchronize these actions, which might cause simultaneous accesses of this resource by multiple threads or processes. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
A flaw was found in search-indexer. This vulnerability allows a registered and authenticated managed cluster to tamper with or delete another cluster's indexed search data. This is possible because the delta-sync write paths in search-indexer do not properly restrict UPDATE/DELETE operations to data owned by the calling cluster. An attacker could exploit this by crafting specific user identifiers (UIDs) with a different cluster's prefix.
The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-76827 since 08/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/19/2026).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
