Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in TP-Link ER7212PC, ER605, ER7206, ER7406, ER707-M2, ER7412-M2, ER8411, ER706W, ER706W-4G, ER706WP-4G, ER703WP-4G-Outdoor, DR3220v-4G, DR3650v, DR3650v-4G, ER603WP-4G-Outdoor, DR3150, ER701-5G-Outdoor and ER605W. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component OpenVPN Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A pre-authentication OS command injection vulnerability has been identified in Omada gateways configured to operate as an OpenVPN Server due to insufficient validation of client-supplied data during OpenVPN connection establishment. An unauthenticated remote attacker may provide specially crafted input influencing backend command execution logic before authentication completes. Exploitation requires the OpenVPN Server feature to be enabled, VPN service reachable by the attacker and attacker to be able to initiate an OpenVPN connection attempt. Successful exploitation may allow arbitrary command execution, potentially leading to full compromise of the affected device.
The advisory is shared at omadanetworks.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-19586 since 08/12/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/20/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
