Details
A vulnerability was found in Black Duck blackduck-c-cpp up to 3.0.6. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Package Manager. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command in the package manager component of Black Duck blackduck-c-cpp before 3.0.7 allows an actor able to create a file within the scanned build directory to execute operating system commands as the account running the scan. Filesystem paths encountered while traversing the scanned directory are interpolated into command strings that are executed through a shell without quoting or escaping, so shell metacharacters within those paths are interpreted rather than treated as literal text. No control over the build command or the tool's configuration is required.
The advisory is available at community.blackduck.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-76055 since 08/18/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy.
