rConfig up to 8.2.12 Export Download Endpoint filename path traversal

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability identified as problematic has been detected in rConfig up to 8.2.12. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Export Download Endpoint. Performing a manipulation of the argument filename results in path traversal. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-77914. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. No exploit is available.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in rConfig up to 8.2.12. This affects some unknown functionality of the component Export Download Endpoint. The manipulation of the argument filename with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

rConfig before 8.2.13 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read arbitrary files by supplying crafted filenames containing directory traversal sequences to the export download endpoint. Attackers can manipulate the filename parameter with traversal sequences to escape the intended export directory and access files outside it that are readable by the application process.

The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-77914 since 08/21/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 8.2.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
