A vulnerability was found in Quirm SAXON 5.4. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file news.php of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation of the argument array with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
SAXON 5.4, with display_errors enabled, allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via (1) a direct request for news.php, (2) an invalid use of a newsid array parameter to admin/edit-item.php, and possibly unspecified vectors related to additional scripts in (3) admin/, (4) rss/, and (5) the root directory of the installation, which reveal the path in various error messages.
The weakness was presented 10/29/2007 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-4861 since 09/13/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
