Details
A vulnerability was found in Apache Jakarta Slide up to 2.1. It has been classified as problematic. This affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Absolute path traversal vulnerability in Apache Jakarta Slide 2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files via a WebDAV write request that specifies an entity with a SYSTEM tag, a related issue to CVE-2007-5461.
The weakness was shared 10/24/2007 by kingcope (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-5731 since 10/30/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
