Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in gitpython-developers GitPython up to 3.1.58. Affected is the function Repo.clone_from of the component unsafe_git_clone_options. The manipulation of the argument separate_git_dir with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
GitPython before 3.1.59 omits --separate-git-dir from unsafe_git_clone_options, allowing attackers to create arbitrary git directories outside the intended clone destination. Attackers can pass a separate_git_dir parameter to Repo.clone_from() or Repo.clone() to redirect repository metadata to an attacker-controlled filesystem path, enabling arbitrary directory creation and potential hook execution.
