A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in FreeBSD ppp up to p2/p8/p12. Affected is the function mp_Enddisc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. mp_Enddisc() used incorrect length calculations when formatting endpoint discriminator addresses for display, allowing a received endpoint option to overflow a global result buffer. A malicious PPP peer can crash ppp(8) or potentially execute arbitrary code as root.
