CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability identified as very critical has been detected in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.104/6.18.45/7.1.9. Impacted is the function amdgpu_cs_p2_ib/ring_emit_ib of the file drm/amdgpu of the component amdgpu. The manipulation of the argument ib_bytes leads to buffer overflow. This vulnerability is listed as CVE-2026-80576. The attack may be initiated remotely. There is no available exploit.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.104/6.18.45/7.1.9. It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects the function amdgpu_cs_p2_ib/ring_emit_ib of the file drm/amdgpu of the component amdgpu. The manipulation of the argument ib_bytes with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: reject oversized IBs with per-ring packet limits On GFX rings, amdgpu_cs_p2_ib() passed user-supplied ib_bytes through to ib->length_dw without a limit, while ring_emit_ib() encodes length into packet fields. Oversized values can corrupt adjacent control bits and destabilize command submission. Add a per-ring IB packet size limit helper and reject command submissions exceeding the corresponding dword limit before IB allocation. Use the documented 20-bit limit for GFX/compute/SDMA/VPE, and apply the MM fallback limit for other ring types. (cherry picked from commit 7f48fa2cf62e3fa6c9c3870aa74988f773247e52)

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-80576 since 08/26/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/26/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.105, 6.18.46 or 7.1.10 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 6e164ba1057175fb8a370d8e05cbff5c57eac0c8/1474f3970d1afd303e12ff14d06808eabb371576/07fe270ec07c138a70afe7a81e115a85c35c545c/fd37f9dd5b5ab70a46fa7bc76623c0528d602b27 is able to eliminate this problem.
