Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in VMware Spring AI up to 1.0.9/1.1.8/2.0.0. This affects the function ResourceCacheService.getCacheName. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
ResourceCacheService.getCacheName() builds the on-disk filename by appending the URI fragment verbatim, without stripping path separators or .. sequences, and passes the result to new File(resourceParentFolder, newFileName) before writing the downloaded bytes there. Spring AI 2.0.0 Spring AI 1.1.0 - 1.1.8 Spring AI 1.0.9 and earlier
