Details
A vulnerability has been found in OpenBase 10.0.5 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Stored Procedure. The manipulation of the argument first with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability (Stored). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in OpenBase 10.0.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create files with arbitrary contents via a .. (dot dot) in the first argument to the GlobalLog stored procedure. NOTE: this can be leveraged to execute arbitrary code using CVE-2007-5926.
The weakness was published 11/09/2007 by Kevin Finisterre (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-5927 since 11/09/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
