Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 2.0.0.9 (Web Browser). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Protocol Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
The jar protocol handler in Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.10 and SeaMonkey before 1.1.7 retrieves the inner URL regardless of its MIME type, and considers HTML documents within a jar archive to have the same origin as the inner URL, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via a jar: URI.
The bug was discovered 11/07/2007. The weakness was shared 11/13/2007 by Jesse Ruderman as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org.
