Details
A vulnerability was found in gilbertchen Duplicacy up to 3.2.5. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function restore. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Duplicacy through 3.2.5 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the restore function that fails to validate entry paths deserialized from snapshot files. Attackers can craft malicious snapshot entries with directory traversal sequences to write files outside the restore directory to arbitrary locations accessible by the restoring user.
