Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in GFI Exinda AI up to 7.6.4. Affected is the function wcf_handle_download of the component Download Handler. The manipulation of the argument v_del_ with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

GFI Exinda AI before 7.6.5 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the system maintenance configuration download handler. The wcf_handle_download() function accepts parameters prefixed with v_del_ and appends their values directly to the base configuration directory path without sanitizing for directory traversal sequences. An authenticated attacker with Admin privileges can read arbitrary files from the system in the context of root.

The advisory is available at gfi.ai. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-74235 since 08/14/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
