Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Okta Access Gateway up to 2026.9.0. This affects an unknown function of the component SNMP Configuration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The Okta Access Gateway does not neutralize shell metacharacters in SNMP configuration values before a privileged script uses them to construct OS commands. An authenticated local user with access to the management interface can supply crafted values, resulting in the execution of arbitrary OS commands with root privileges.
The advisory is shared at trust.okta.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-78630 since 08/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
