The WiMAX dissector in Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) 0.99.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via unknown vectors related to "unaligned access on some platforms."

The bug was discovered 12/18/2007. The weakness was presented 12/19/2007 by Stefan Esser with Beyond Security (Website). The advisory is shared at issues.rpath.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-6441 since 12/19/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
