Details
A vulnerability has been found in Anon Proxy Server 0.100 (Firewall Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file diagdns.php of the component Proxy Server. The manipulation of the argument port with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Anon Proxy Server 0.100, and probably 0.101, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in (1) the host parameter to diagdns.php, and (2) the host parameter and possibly (3) the port parameter to diagconnect.php, a different vulnerability than CVE-2007-6460.
The weakness was presented 12/14/2007 by Michael Brooks (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-6459 since 12/19/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by Michael Brooks and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:diagdns.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Exploit-DB (4734), SecurityFocus (BID 26882†) and OSVDB (43711†). See VDB-40154 for similar entry. Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
