CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in OISF Suricata up to 7.0.15/8.0.4. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component HTTP2 Decompression. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:

Suricata is a network Intrusion Detection System, Intrusion Prevention System and Network Security Monitoring engine. Prior to versions 7.0.16 and 8.0.5, Suricata's HTTP/2 decompression path could grow the decompressed response-body buffer without an effective upper bound. A crafted HTTP/2 DATA payload using a high compression ratio, such as gzip, deflate, or brotli compressed data, could cause Suricata to allocate excessive memory while decompressing the payload. Versions 7.0.16 and 8.0.5 contain a fix. As a workaround, disable HTTP2.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-46387 since 05/13/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 7.0.16 or 8.0.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
