Details
A vulnerability was found in SPIP up to 4.4.17 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function editer_auteur of the component Administrative Action. The manipulation of the argument nonce with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
SPIP before 4.4.18 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the administrative action endpoints under ecrire/action/ that allows unauthenticated attackers to perform privileged actions by supplying a valid HMAC-SHA256 nonce without any server-side permission check via autoriser(). Attackers can obtain a valid nonce, compute it for any action as the anonymous user, and invoke the editer_auteur action directly over HTTP to reset the password of any user account, including the administrator.
