CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.49/7.2.3. Affected is the function kset_replay of the component dm-pcache. The manipulation of the argument seg_gen with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-pcache: fix use-after-free and invalid seg operations in kset_replay() In kset_replay, when key->seg_gen is stale (key->seg_gen < key->cache_pos.cache_seg->gen), cache_key_put(key) is called but then key->cache_pos.cache_seg is accessed as the argument to cache_seg_get(). This is a use-after-free on the freed key memory. Although mempool recycled memory is not immediately reclaimed or overwritten in practice, this is still a potential UAF bug. Additionally, for expired invalid keys, setting the cache->seg_map bit and calling cache_seg_get() is unreasonable since the corresponding segment data is no longer valid. Fix both issues by moving cache_seg_get() and __set_bit() after the gen check, so they only execute for valid keys, and using continue to skip invalid keys.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-80955 since 08/26/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/11/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.18.50, 7.2.4 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 1894fc7a3bab90143dcd26ef8ee27040ef4a7501/f39a3e9cc5946473e16d6f5071b2ee0216c56d06/c2e894eac398b258f12fdec73ed6ba081047f7b3 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
