Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in MervinPraison PraisonAI up to 1.7.1. Affected is the function Function of the file src/praisonai-ts/src/tools/builtins/code-mode.ts of the component codeMode. The manipulation of the argument code with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams system. Prior to 1.7.2, the codeMode tool in src/praisonai-ts/src/tools/builtins/code-mode.ts executes model-generated JavaScript with new Function() and with(sandbox), while a regular-expression blocklist can be bypassed with Function('return this')() to recover the global object and by constructing the child_process module name dynamically. An attacker who can influence the code argument can access host process capabilities, read or write files, obtain environment credentials, and execute operating-system commands with the PraisonAI process privileges. This issue is fixed in version 1.7.2.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-57141 since 06/24/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.
Upgrading to version 1.7.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
