Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Http4s up to 0.23.34/1.0.0-M46. Affected is an unknown code block of the component FollowRedirect client middleware. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
Http4s is a Scala interface for HTTP services. Prior to 0.23.35 and 1.0.0-M47, The FollowRedirect client middleware strips Authorization and Cookie headers only when a redirect changes authority, but authority comparison excludes the URI scheme. A same-authority redirect from HTTPS to HTTP therefore preserves credentials and transmits them over a plaintext connection. An attacker who can induce the downgrade and observe the network can capture those sensitive headers from applications using FollowRedirect. This issue is fixed in versions 0.23.35 and 1.0.0-M47.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-69212 since 08/03/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
