CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 7.3-rc1. This affects the function gud_connector_add_tv_mode of the file drivers/gpu/drm/gud/gud_drv.c of the component gud. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/gud: NUL-terminate TV mode names read from the device gud_connector_add_tv_mode() reads a buffer of fixed-size mode names from the USB device and passes pointers into it to drm_mode_create_tv_properties_legacy(), which calls strlen() on each one. Nothing guarantees the device NUL-terminates a name, so strlen() can run past the end of a slot and, for the last mode, past the end of the allocation. Terminate each name at the end of its slot before use.

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-89817 since 09/11/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/16/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.15.221, 6.1.188, 6.6.157, 6.12.110, 6.18.51, 7.2.5 or 7.3-rc2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 08c8ec28547987e55a90c662f8795e05c2925498/9096edfd6f2edbc79612b482547e0972edbcfe4b/89210cb5ff8fdbe055c97ac688be2268f6c815ae/d0f3312f7800eb0e00d1264f66104c788f43dd69/b86438a5c6b0250ccb07dd380184d1e70e0dea6c/6ea61f1d4cbaa0db937e31bffc041fb8afeacf52/500cb24cd61bad8a2747ddfc49b7034899c82d94 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
