CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.4. Affected is the function qla_chk_edif_rx_sa_delete_pending of the component qla2xxx. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: edif: Fix NULL pointer deref in RX SA delete check qla_chk_edif_rx_sa_delete_pending() obtains the SCSI command via GET_CMD_SP(sp) and immediately dereferences cmd->sc_data_direction. That command pointer can be NULL: the firmware may post a status completion for a command that has already been returned or aborted. The caller qla2x00_status_entry() acknowledges this on the very same status path, re-fetching GET_CMD_SP(sp) and bailing out with the "Command already returned" message when it is NULL -- but that check runs only after qla_chk_edif_rx_sa_delete_pending() has already dereferenced the pointer, so a NULL cmd crashes the kernel in interrupt context. Return early when cmd is NULL, before touching cmd->sc_data_direction.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-89863 since 09/11/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 09/16/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.15.221, 6.1.188, 6.6.157, 6.12.110, 6.18.51, 7.2.5 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch e479e9b148456905d12711411484b94083c8ff58/2191b0034a2f1307d421782e6eceddf8eec9e7f6/de0c8ef3b900c5e971c82ef38c6f5c22c5f3d8c1/96eb8a3fc9f7fe7ba32679fcf1d2fd7d251e7a8b/94bfb61478bcb207d27f8cd24fd231421059519f/75fd6d041c4a325ae37f4683e6678d3015988bb0/c20ee380ca59c5a8646750c4849969a815924e2e is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
