Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5. This issue affects the function devm_phy_create of the component phy. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: phy: renesas: rcar-gen2: Fix double of_node_put on phy creation failure for_each_child_of_node_scoped() releases the node reference on scope exit, so the explicit of_node_put(np) in the devm_phy_create() error path drops it twice. Drop the redundant of_node_put() and let the scoped cleanup handle it.
