Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function hidpp_ff_init of the component logitech-hidpp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a release of resource vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-772. The product does not release a resource after its effective lifetime has ended, i.e., after the resource is no longer needed. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: logitech-hidpp: Fix FF device cleanup on init failure hidpp_ff_init() creates the input force-feedback device with input_ff_create(), then allocates the HID++ FF private data, effect ID array, and workqueue. If any of those allocations fail after input_ff_create() succeeds, the function returns an error without destroying the FF device. Add an unwind path that frees the private allocations made by hidpp_ff_init() and calls input_ff_destroy() for failures after input_ff_create() succeeds.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-90330 since 09/11/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
