CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability categorized as very critical has been discovered in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.109/6.18.51/7.2.5. This issue affects the function ipu6_bus_initialize_device of the component ipu6. Such manipulation of the argument pdata leads to double free. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-93070. An attack has to be approached locally. There is no exploit available. It is advisable to upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.109/6.18.51/7.2.5. It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function ipu6_bus_initialize_device of the component ipu6. The manipulation of the argument pdata with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: ipu6: Do not free aux device pdata after init ipu6_bus_initialize_device() stores the isys/psys pdata pointer in struct ipu6_bus_device and initializes the auxiliary device. After that point, error unwinding must drop the auxiliary device reference and let ipu6_bus_release() free both the bus device and adev->pdata. The isys and psys init paths already call put_device() when MMU initialization fails, and ipu6_bus_add_device() calls auxiliary_device_uninit() on auxiliary_device_add() failure. Both paths therefore run the bus release callback. The extra kfree(pdata) in the callers can release the same object a second time. Remove the manual pdata frees after the auxiliary device has been initialized. This issue was found by a static analysis checker and confirmed by manual source review.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-93070 since 09/17/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Additional levels of successful authentication are needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/17/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.110, 6.18.52, 7.2.6 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch faa1eb97f0e66bf122f44b62be6b323f86333e9f/5323ed5a7bb2568191ec676b2035b0396105aa05/7d102d1f0631807a491a140f67c9628dea85dfd2/9be07216af4cfc4813e1a46ce26407d31ea845de is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
