A vulnerability was found in Coppermine Photo Gallery up to 1.4.13 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown processing of the file imageObjectIM.class.php. The manipulation of the argument clipval with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. include/imageObjectIM.class.php in Coppermine Photo Gallery (CPG) before 1.4.15, when the ImageMagick picture processing method is configured, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in the (1) quality, (2) angle, or (3) clipval parameter to picEditor.php.
The weakness was disclosed 01/31/2008 by Janek Vind (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-0506 since 01/31/2008. Upgrading to version 1.4.14 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 19312.
