Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in vaxilu x-ui 0.3.2. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Session Management. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a missing secure attribute vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-614. The Secure attribute for sensitive cookies in HTTPS sessions is not set, which could cause the user agent to send those cookies in plaintext over an HTTP session. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

A session invalidation flaw exists in x-ui 0.3.2. The full user object is stored in a client-side signed cookie, and authentication only checks that a user object can be retrieved from the cookie without re-validating against the database or any session version. When an administrator changes the username or password, previously issued session cookies are not revoked, so an attacker who holds a pre-change admin cookie can continue accessing and operating the management interface after the credentials have been rotated.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-79317 since 08/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1539.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
