Document Foundation LibreOffice up to 26.2.4 heap-based overflow

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Document Foundation LibreOffice up to 26.2.4. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

LibreOffice Draw can import PDF documents. A heap buffer overflow existed when importing an encrypted document. The length of the decryption key was taken from the document's own encryption dictionary and was used to fill a fixed size key buffer without being checked against it, so a length larger than that buffer wrote past its end. In fixed versions a declared key length larger than the buffer is rejected.

The advisory is shared for download at libreoffice.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-63273 since 07/16/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept.

Upgrading to version 26.2.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
