Details
A vulnerability was found in sooperset mcp-atlassian up to 0.21.x. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function upload_attachment of the component Attachment Upload. The manipulation of the argument file_path with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
MCP Atlassian is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Atlassian products (Confluence and Jira). Prior to 0.22.0, the remediation for CVE-2026-27825 protects download destinations but does not constrain source paths used by attachment uploads. A caller can provide an absolute or traversal file_path and cause the server to upload the selected local file. The advisory traces the vulnerable input and processing flow through upload_attachment, file_path, and CVE-2026-27825, which identify the affected entry points, controls, and code paths. This issue is fixed in version 0.22.0.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-77269 since 08/20/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 0.22.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
