Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Joniles Mpxj up to 16.4.0. This vulnerability affects the function MerlinReader of the component Xml Parser. The manipulation of the argument ZTIMEINTERVALS with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

MPXJ is an open source library to read and write project plans from a variety of file formats and databases. From 5.5.5 until 16.4.1, MerlinReader creates a DocumentBuilder with default settings while parsing XML from the ZTIMEINTERVALS column of a Merlin project SQLite database, leaving doctype declarations and external entities enabled. A crafted database can cause the parser to read an arbitrary local file, although MPXJ's subsequent handling of the parsed XML makes disclosure of the file contents unlikely. This issue is fixed in version 16.4.1.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-61570 since 07/10/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
