Linux Kernel up to 6.18.51/7.2.5 amlogic-spisg aml_spisg_clk_init uninitialized variable

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.51/7.2.5 and classified as very critical. This issue affects the function aml_spisg_clk_init of the component amlogic-spisg. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a uninitialized variable vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-457. The code uses a variable that has not been initialized, leading to unpredictable or unintended results. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: amlogic-spisg: Make sure clk_init_data is fully initialized The clk_init_data structure contains several mutually-exclusive members for different methods to specify the possible parents of a clock, prompting drivers to initialize only the members they need. However, not initializing all members may cause subtle issues, which are only exposed when CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL_PATTERN or CONFIG_INIT_STACK_NONE is enabled. aml_spisg_clk_init() fills in init.parent_data, and assumes that init.parent_names is NULL. However, the latter in uninitialized, and thus may cause a crash. Make sure all members are fully initialized, to fix such bugs, and to avoid future breakage when converting drivers to a different method for specifying the parents.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-93249 since 09/17/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/24/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.18.52, 7.2.6 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch bfce0f324efaa605e606cbb3f0bdb8fe5c910c11/5969a3df8361a0e20379a308c2313d3e263123de/b2702908ee23ef31bfcf241a2e07ace0eb76bd71 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
