The agent in Symantec Altiris Notification Server before 6.0 SP3 R7 allows local users to gain privileges via a "Shatter" style attack.

The bug was discovered 02/06/2008. The weakness was presented 02/11/2008 by Brett Moore with Insomnia Security (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-0716 since 02/11/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack.
