Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: block: handle nogenerate/noverify properly in fs-integrity Check the BIP_CHECK flags before generating or verifying PI information, otherwise this can be incorrectly called for non-PI metadata and cause generation of incorrect metadata and crashed in the verification handler. The new behavior matches that of the block layer auto-generated metadata.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-93257 since 09/17/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 09/24/2026).
