Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5 tc9563 out-of-bounds

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5. It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component tc9563. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI/pwrctrl: tc9563: Fix parsing the integrated Ethernet MAC Endpoint node DSP3 has an integrated Ethernet MAC Endpoint which has its own set of config registers for configuring settings such as ASPM. The Endpoint device has two physical functions and those two functions share the same settings. Parse the Endpoint node under DSP3 instead of parsing both functions. The existing parsing logic also has one OOB issue as parsing both functions will result in accessing past the tc9563_pwrctrl->cfg array.

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-93265 since 09/17/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. The exploitation requires an enhanced level of successful authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/24/2026).

Upgrading to version 7.2.6 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 972c771674e88a43c8310c459ea30f0f0d0c168f/6e5e6c2194b2acbded5b12ed80590d215b786d29 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
