CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Such manipulation of the argument packet_len leads to out-of-bounds. This vulnerability is documented as CVE-2026-97976. The attack can be executed remotely. There is not any exploit available. Upgrading the affected component is recommended.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.110/6.18.52/7.2.6/7.3-rc2. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function btintel_pcie_submit_rx_work of the component btintel_pcie. The manipulation of the argument packet_len with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel_pcie: validate packet_len before skb_put_data btintel_pcie_submit_rx_work() reads packet_len from rfh_hdr without checking if it exceeds the RX buffer size. An oversized packet_len can lead to an out-of-bounds read in skb_put_data(). Validate packet_len to ensure it is non-zero and does not exceed BTINTEL_PCIE_BUFFER_SIZE - sizeof(*rfh_hdr), logging an error when invalid. This issue was reported by Claude Mythos. It can be simulated either by using customized firmware configured to return an invalid packet_len or by modifying rfh_hdr->packet_len in the driver before calling btintel_pcie_submit_rx_work().

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-97976 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 09/25/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or 7.3-rc3 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch ab0159b1f7214ce9bad9862751e4553e635a21b1/73a50c636425cb9f7ab647b5a97bd14dd5610076/46884c0f92708f1d218fc94d88800227a19b52f8/6436e1b5331b1aebf905c13e0880a37032719b75 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
