Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5 nf_nat_sip ct_sip_parse_header_uri out-of-bounds

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 7.2.5. This affects the function ct_sip_parse_header_uri of the component nf_nat_sip. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_nat_sip: rewind offset when NAT shrinks the packet sashiko says: If map_addr() changes the packet length, such as when the public NAT IP string is shorter or longer than the internal IP, coff will still point to the offset relative to the pre-mangled packet. If the packet shrinks, coff could overshoot the correct position, potentially causing the next ct_sip_parse_header_uri() call to silently skip bytes and miss subsequent Contact headers. Could this lead to a failure to NAT those subsequent headers and leak internal network details?

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-100070 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/25/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.10.270, 5.15.221, 6.1.188, 6.6.157, 6.12.110, 6.18.52, 7.2.6 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 6828aca3d82717c2fda92af81c0dda642bc2b465/2703f5ea8d85bc729f433ac09ee902084c947122/0f4d30e2e49f343fc28ba1e259fd22969b940c46/810da5a63549531da78348b0a4545042d84e01e2/668cc1c30caedc63070b10d17d5514748988a140/e70d48fcf8382581162608a4a322919bfd22aef3/c408d416618ebb8a95e3097a13f3b793ea9272ee/16aecbe3036f6097c26b51b12e4c1cf207769690 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
