CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.110/6.18.52/7.2.6/7.3-rc2. It has been classified as very critical. Affected is the function tx_spb_ring_full of the component bcmasp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a infinite loop vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-835. The product contains an iteration or loop with an exit condition that cannot be reached, i.e., an infinite loop. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bcmasp: fix tx_spb_ring_full() checking same slot cnt times The loop initialised next_index from intf->tx_spb_index on every iteration, so incr_ring() always produced the same result and only one slot was ever tested. Move the initialisation before the loop so each iteration advances next_index and the function correctly checks that cnt consecutive descriptor slots are available before allowing a new transmission.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-98051 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/25/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or 7.3-rc3 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch f7f7a16dd46ace4e221336a184c7806f7de19547/a8bddab54aa68b407f12294acb05bd552fb6a492/5df7ecd302488287665ab9767bacba7ed7e2842f/0c5cf62e72d7a666ee4da757e122dc1600df1ecc is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
