CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability identified as critical has been detected in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.110/6.18.52/7.2.6/7.3-rc1. The impacted element is the function tpacket_parse_header of the file net/socket.c of the component af_packet. Performing a manipulation of the argument tp_len results in integer overflow. This vulnerability is reported as CVE-2026-98095. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. No exploit exists. You should upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.110/6.18.52/7.2.6/7.3-rc1. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function tpacket_parse_header of the file net/socket.c of the component af_packet. The manipulation of the argument tp_len with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_packet: Don't cast tpacket_hdr.tp_len to int in tpacket_parse_header(). syzbot reported BUG() in sock_sendmsg_nosec(). [0] The problem is that tpacket_parse_header() casts user-provided tpacket_hdr.tp_len, which is u32, to int. If the length is larger than INT_MAX, the following condition in tpacket_parse_header() passes, if (unlikely(tp_len > size_max)) and any negative value can be returned to the caller, up to sock_sendmsg_nosec(). The repro set tpacket_hdr.tp_len to 0xfffffdef, which is cast to -EIOCBQUEUED (-529), triggering BUG() in sock_sendmsg_nosec(). *(uint64_t*)0x200000000008 = 0xfffffdef; ... syscall(__NR_write, /*fd=*/r[0], /*buf=*/0x200000000000ul, /*count=*/1ul); Let's define the local tp_len as u32 in tpacket_parse_header().
