Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Zammad up to 7.1.1. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a excessive authentication vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-307. The product does not implement sufficient measures to prevent multiple failed authentication attempts within a short time frame, making it more susceptible to brute force attacks. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Zammad is a web based open source helpdesk/customer support system. Prior to 7.1.2, the two-factor login step let an attacker try unlimited password guesses for any account without triggering Zammad's normal lockout or rate limiting. The response also revealed whether a guess was correct, even before two-factor authentication was checked. This made it possible to brute-force weak or reused passwords. This issue is fixed in version 7.1.2.
