Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in PHP up to 8.2.33/8.3.34/8.4.25/8.5.10. This affects an unknown functionality of the component FastCGI Access Check. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a comparison vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-697. The product compares two entities in a security-relevant context, but the comparison is incorrect, which may lead to resultant weaknesses. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The IPv6 branch of the FastCGI client access check compares only the first 12 bytes of a 16-byte IPv6 address, so listen.allowed_clients matches on a /96 prefix instead of the exact address. An attacker who can source an address sharing the first 96 bits with an allowed one passes the check and reaches the FastCGI endpoint.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-91768 since 09/15/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/25/2026).
Upgrading to version 8.2.34, 8.3.35, 8.4.26 or 8.5.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
