Details
A vulnerability was found in OpenClaw up to 2026.8.0 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Gateway Listener. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
OpenClaw versions before 2026.8.1 contain a resource exhaustion vulnerability in the Gateway listener that allows unauthenticated clients to retain response sockets by sending WebSocket upgrade requests without matching connection semantics. Attackers can repeatedly send malformed upgrade requests to exhaust listener resources and cause denial of service without consuming the WebSocket pre-auth connection budget.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-100558 since 09/26/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
