CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in FreePBX up to 16.0.3/17.0.5. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the file musiconhold_additional.conf of the component Music on Hold. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

FreePBX is an open source IP PBX. Prior to versions 16.0.4 and 17.0.6, the FreePBX Music on Hold (MoH) module contains a critical security flaw that allows authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary system commands with the privileges of the Asterisk service. Authentication with an existing FreePBX administrator account is required. The root cause lies in the fact that the module accepts a POST parameter that defines a custom Asterisk application, which is then stored in the database without any sanitization. Later, this data is written directly to the musiconhold_additional.conf configuration file without validation. Since Asterisk reads this configuration file and executes the specified application, an attacker can inject arbitrary commands that will be executed with Asterisk's permissions. This issue has been patched in versions 16.0.4 and 17.0.6.

It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-45562 since 05/12/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1202 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading to version 16.0.4 or 17.0.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
