A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Dokeos E-learning System 1.8.4 (Learning Management Software). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file inscription.php. The manipulation of the argument message with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Dokeos 1.8.4 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) username parameter to inscription.php, (2) courseCode parameter to main/calendar/myagenda.php, (3) category parameter to main/admin/course_category.php, (4) message parameter to main/admin/session_list.php in a show_message action, and (5) an avatar image to main/auth/profile.php.
The bug was discovered 01/29/2008. The weakness was released 02/20/2008 by Alexandr Polyakov (DiGiT) with Digital Security Research Group (Website). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-0851 since 02/20/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
