Details
A vulnerability was found in n8n-io n8n (affected version unknown). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Supabase node. The manipulation of the argument tableId with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
n8n versions before 1.123.80, from 2.0.0 before 2.39.6, and from 2.40.0 before 2.40.1 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the Supabase node where the tableId parameter is inserted into request paths without validation. Attackers can exploit workflows binding tableId to untrusted input to traverse to Auth and Storage APIs using the administrative serviceRole key, bypassing Row Level Security and enabling unauthorized data access and modification.
It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-103255 since 09/30/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy.
