Details
A vulnerability was found in tonycoz Imager up to 1.036. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function i_readraw_wiol of the component Raw Image Reader. The manipulation of the argument raw_datachannels with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
Imager versions before 1.037 for Perl exit the process reading a raw image with an out-of-range raw_datachannels value in i_readraw_wiol. Nothing range-checks raw_datachannels. The line buffer is sized as the image width times the channel count with no overflow check, so a negative or very large count requests an excessive allocation. When it fails, Imager's allocator calls exit(3). Passing an untrusted raw_datachannels value to Imager->read() triggers an uncatchable exit.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-102504 since 09/29/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 1.037 eliminates this vulnerability.
