Details
A vulnerability was found in akhilrex Podgrab (the affected version is unknown). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function Wshandler/HandleWebsocketMessages of the component WebSocket Handler. The manipulation of the argument activePlayers/allConnections with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
Podgrab contains an unauthenticated denial-of-service vulnerability caused by unsynchronized concurrent access to shared maps (activePlayers and allConnections) in its WebSocket handler, where Wshandler and HandleWebsocketMessages goroutines read and write these maps without a mutex. A remote attacker can open multiple WebSocket connections to the /ws endpoint and send messages in a loop to trigger a Go runtime data race that crashes the process, causing a denial of service that requires operator intervention to restore service.
The advisory is available at gist.github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-104057 since 10/01/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
